Welcome Hall Mission

Graduation Day at Welcome Hall Mission

Thanks to the Education and Employability Program, 4 more people are ready to go back into the workforce! On June 21st, Welcome Hall Mission held a graduation party for them to celebrate. Hassan (center) was the first to receive his certificate from his teacher Marianne Thibaudeau (left) and Shauna Santlal, Education and Employability Coordinator (right).

Three years ago, Hassan lacked the confidence to find work. He had experienced some disappointing blows in his personal life and worked only seasonally as a lifeguard over the previous 10 years. The agent from Emploi Québec recommended that he enroll in the Reinsertion Program at Welcome Hall Mission. With the guidance of his teachers from Le Centre de ressources éducatives et pédagogiques (CREP) and Mission employees, Hassan learned about his individual strengths, how to write a CV, new job skills, and most importantly to him, developed self-confidence. "Working at Welcome Hall Mission, my teachers and bosses built me up. They helped me feel confident and ready to work in any environment." In the meantime, Hassan is working in the Welcome Hall Mission warehouse and continuing with the Program as he looks for new employment.

So far this year, we have 6 graduates of the Education and Employability Program. That's 6 more people who have become productive members of society once again!
